Hi Umbrella families! My name is Alex Salsberg, I teach The Digital Animation Lab at The Umbrella Arts Center, and animation classes to kids of all ages around the Boston area.

While we're all stuck at home, I've been offering an at-home version of my K-6 classes via video tutorials and step-by-step instructions. The best part? It utilizes supplies and materials you already have at home to create really fun animation.

Current students are really enjoying it (as am I!), so I'm very excited to offer another edition of it directly to the Umbrella community.

Here's what you get if you sign up for TAL@HOME:
12 Hands-on Animation Activities sent right to your inbox, starting Wednesday, 4/22, over the course of 4 weeks.

Each activity is designed to use items and technology that you already have around the house!

Each activity contains my detailed video tutorial for that project, plus step-by-step instructions to accompany the video.

Each activity is geared toward grades K through 6, with some specific suggestions on how to gear it younger or older.

Each activity is designed to keep the average student busy for at least 1-2 hours.

In each video, I will share some of your work that's been sent to me, so we can all enjoy creating together.

I will be available via email regularly to help students along the way, and will arrange a helpful phone call or video chat upon request.
Regular Cost is $85 per family

***LIMITED TIME: USE DISCOUNT CODE "UMBRELLA" ON FORM TO RECEIVE $15 OFF!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Are these classes live via video chat?
No. So that students and families can work at their own pace, videos are pre-recorded. If you need help with a particular activity, video chats are available upon request.

Can students older than 6th grade join?
Yes, if they'd like. The activities are designed for elementary age, but older students may be able to run with these activities and create even more complex work.

What kind of animation will we do?
Most of the animation we do will be stop motion animation, using free apps available on phones and tablets and a variety of fun techniques. Other activities include cartooning and hand-drawn animation projects.

Will parents need to be present to help with activities?
This very much depends on each student and their age. Younger kids may need some help with a few challenging steps, but there will be stretches of time during most activities where most kids can work independently for a bit.

Can I share this with other families?
Of course! The more the merrier. You can share the discount code as well :)
